The reputation of the Clos St Jean domain is well established and the wines of Clos St Jean are reputed to be quite concentrated and massive, yet they are perfectly balanced.
The famous cuvée La Combe des Fous is a tribute to Guy Maurel, who finally persisted in planting vines on a combe. Called "crazy" by all his neighbors, he assumed his choice and it is today one of the flagship cuvées of the property and the most famous terroir of Chateauneuf du Pape: La Crau.
