Based on 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and the rest Vaccarèse and Cinsault, the 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Combe des Fous always shows a slightly more elegant and seamless profile compared to the Deus Ex Machina, and that’s certainly apparent in 2017. White flowers, black cherries, blackberries, graphite, and ample peppery spice notes all emerge from this opulent, powerful wine, which has no hard edges and incredible purity of fruit.
