Maucoil Châteauneuf-du-Pape Privilège 2009 Magnum - red wine

Jeb Dunnuck "Château Maucoil Châteauneuf-du-Pape Privilège 2009 is darker, deeper, and more substantial. This blend of old vines (40% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 12% Mourvèdre, and the rest assorted red and white varietals) is aged 60% in 1 to 2 year old barrels and the rest in concrete. It has a thick, rich but elegant profile, with fresh raspberry and darker fruit, liquorice, spices and a solid minerality on the nose. It needs time in the glass to fully develop and was much better when I returned later in the day. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with brilliant midpalate richness, impressive balance, and very fine tannin. This is a top-notch Chateauneuf-du-Pape that combines solid maturity with a sense of class and elegance. It should drink well for 10-12 years."
