The 2009 ChĆ¢teauneuf Du Pape Pignan is a beauty, with a powerful, concentrated, full-bodied style and classic notes of darker cherries and assorted berries, supported by a floral, gamey, exotic character almost similar to that of CĆ“te RĆ“tie, which develops over time in the glass. Wonderfully textured, deep and layered on the palate, it's undoubtedly a brilliant drink today, but will keep for another decade or more in cold cellars.
