Another traditional wine that knocks it out of the park is the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée du Lion. Made from 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre brought up mostly in concrete tanks, its purple color is accompanied by loads of blackberries, dried spices, earth, new saddle leather, and garrigue. It’s a rich, full-bodied, concentrated 2016 that’s going to keep for 10-15 years or more.
