Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Safres Blanc 2025 is a superb expression of Southern Rhône white wine, combining richness, freshness and remarkable precision. The blend is composed of 40% Grenache Blanc, 30% Roussanne and 30% Clairette from the sandy and safres soils of the Les Bédines lieu-dit. The vines average around 50 years of age and yields are limited to just 25 hl/ha. Grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before whole-cluster pneumatic pressing and cold settling. Fermentation takes place in barrel, followed by five months of ageing in 20% new oak and 80% seasoned barrels. The result is a beautifully balanced white Châteauneuf-du-Pape combining floral complexity, ripe fruit, citrus freshness and a distinctive mineral and savoury backbone.

Why choose this wine:

Les Safres Blanc stands out for its remarkable balance between generosity and tension. Grenache Blanc provides body and depth, Roussanne contributes aromatic richness, while Clairette reinforces freshness and elegance. The sandy terroir brings finesse, while carefully judged barrel ageing adds complexity without overwhelming the wine. The estate indicates an ageing window extending to 2042, making this a compelling white Châteauneuf-du-Pape for both gastronomy and the cellar.

Pale yellow with delicate golden highlights. The bouquet reveals white flowers, linden blossom and jasmine alongside Williams pear, roasted pineapple and subtle honey. The palate achieves an impressive balance between roundness and tension, with clementine, citrus and bitter orange zest providing brightness and energy. A savoury mineral backbone brings precision, while subtle toasted almond, vanilla and candied fruit nuances emerge from the restrained oak ageing. The finish is long, harmonious and precise, confirming the distinctly gastronomic character of Les Safres Blanc 2025.
