Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2007 offers a remarkable opportunity to experience one of the estate’s great vintages at full maturity. Retasted by Jeb Dunnuck fifteen years after the vintage and awarded 97 points, the wine is now firmly within its prime drinking window. The generous character of 2007 comes through in an intense bouquet of sweet black raspberry, red plum, incense, herbes de Provence, leather and lavender. The palate is full-bodied, rich and opulent, supported by sweet, beautifully integrated tannins. Extended bottle ageing has brought additional complexity without diminishing the wine’s remarkable depth and richness. Dunnuck considers it fully ready to drink while expecting it to continue evolving for another two decades. An exceptional mature Beaucastel offering immediate pleasure as well as further ageing potential.

Why choose this wine:
Deep garnet showing the first signs of mature evolution. The nose is intense and complex, combining sweet black raspberry and red plum with incense, lavender, herbes de Provence and leather. The palate is full-bodied, broad and generous, displaying the characteristic opulence of the 2007 vintage. Sweet, integrated tannins provide a silky framework for layers of ripe fruit, spice and savoury complexity. The finish is long, rich and distinctive. A mature Beaucastel drinking beautifully today while retaining considerable potential for further evolution.
