The story of Clos de l’Oratoire des Papes began in 1880, when Léonce Amouroux, a passionate winegrower, acquired a parcel of Syrah in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Nearby, an oratory dedicated to Saint-Marc watches over the vines. It was this oratory that inspired the name of the wine, which has become mythical over the years.
