Domaine Roc d’Anglade: Free-Form Elegance from the Languedoc

Domaine Roc d’Anglade, located in Langlade in the Gard region, offers a unique and free-spirited interpretation of southern wine: fresh, refined, and nuanced. Founded by Rémy Pedreno in the early 2000s, this 10-hectare estate produces wines with unmistakable character—crafted outside appellation rules, as Vin de Pays du Gard, and known for their depth, drinkability, and emotion. Each wine reflects the vision of a committed winemaker devoted to living soils and pure terroir expression.

Rémy Pedreno: Self-Taught and Artisan of Taste

Rémy Pedreno wasn’t born into a winemaking family. A former IT engineer, he fell in love with wine and made it his life’s work, guided by a rare sensitivity and freedom from tradition. He established Roc d’Anglade in Langlade, a historic village in the Gard, choosing north-facing plots to capture freshness. From the beginning, he rejected trends, heavy oak and rigid appellation systems. He works gently in the cellar, with long aging and thoughtful farming. His goal: to make the wines he enjoys drinking—wines of nuance, energy and restraint.

A Cool and Luminous Terroir in the Heart of the Gard

Roc d’Anglade spans 10 hectares on clay-limestone and siliceous soils. The north-facing aspect of the vineyards is key: it moderates ripeness and preserves acidity, even in warm vintages. This unique microclimate allows harvests at perfect maturity while maintaining tension. Soils are farmed organically and worked with care. This freshness is the foundation of the Roc d’Anglade style: light, vibrant wines that remain true to their southern roots without heaviness.

Gentle Vinification and Subtle Aging

Pedreno intervenes as little as possible in the cellar. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermentations rely on native yeasts, and extractions are gentle. Whole-cluster fermentation is used when maturity allows. The wines are aged in used foudres or barrels for at least 16 months, without fining or filtration. The use of oak is always discreet, never dominant. This long, slow élevage helps each cuvée find its shape, character and balance.

Distinctive and Rare Cuvées

The Roc d’Anglade range is based on a handful of cuvées, all with a strong identity. The emblematic Roc d’Anglade red blends Languedoc grape varieties such as mourvèdre, grenache, syrah and carignan in a fluid, vibrant style that is both southern and Burgundian. Roc Blanc, made from Chenin and Grenache Blanc, offers rare minerality, a fine toasty reduction and salivating depth. The domaine’s rosé is a gastronomic wine, aged to last, taut and salty. Added to this are special cuvées such as Anglada red and Anglada white, from more recent terroirs, vinified in whole bunches, of overwhelming purity. Réserva Especial n°12, meanwhile, is a tribute to Vega Sicilia, a blend of several vintages, with a patina, noble and unique.

Why Roc d’Anglade Wines Are So Coveted

Because they defy categories. Pedreno’s wines never feel forced or overdone. They explore a rare balance of freshness, ripeness, complexity and drinkability. They appeal to both Burgundy lovers and fans of southern reds. Their scarcity, consistency and emotional resonance make them highly prized by collectors and sommeliers alike.

A Living, Evolving Domaine

Roc d’Anglade is constantly evolving. Pedreno keeps planting, experimenting and refining—new parcels, aging vessels, harvest timing. His perfectionism is quiet but relentless. Every wine tells a story—of a place, a year, a mood. His work honors the land, the vintage, and the beauty of restraint. Roc d’Anglade isn’t just a wine—it’s a statement of freedom and feeling.
