Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes Blanc 1992 is now an exceptionally rare mature bottle, offering the opportunity to experience one of Beaucastel’s iconic white wines after more than three decades of evolution. Produced entirely from old-vine Roussanne, this cuvée is renowned for the richness, depth and longevity this variety can achieve in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. With extended bottle age, the youthful white and yellow fruit character of Roussanne evolves towards honey, beeswax, dried fruit, preserved apricot, nuts, spice and complex tertiary nuances. At this age, bottle provenance and storage conditions are essential, but a perfectly cellared example can provide a fascinating expression of mature white Rhône wine, where texture and tertiary complexity take precedence over youthful freshness.
Wine characteristics :
Why choose this wine:
Deep gold, potentially moving towards amber depending on bottle evolution. The mature bouquet may reveal preserved apricot, quince, honey and beeswax alongside dried fruit, walnut, almond, spice and dried herbs. With air, more evolved nuances of tea, forest floor and truffle can emerge. The palate should be broad, enveloping and richly textured, with mature Roussanne character leading towards a complex, persistent finish of honey, dried fruit and spice. Given its age, careful service and minimal decanting are recommended.
