Père Pape comes from old Grenache vines averaging 70 years of age, planted in the northern sector of the appellation on the lieux-dits Bédines, Boisdauphin and La Crau. This combination of sandy soils, clay and rolled pebbles brings remarkable aromatic precision and a silky texture. The grapes are hand-harvested, sorted in the vineyard and again at the winery, then vinified in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts. A 24-month aging in large foudres and amphora gives depth, purity and balance, without any noticeable oak influence. This is a refined, bright and precise Châteauneuf-du-Pape that highlights the true expression of Grenache.

Why choose this wine:

Because Père Pape 2023 is one of the standout wines of the vintage, rated 98 by RVF, praised for its elegance, purity and its ability to express terroir with clarity. It shows how the northern part of the appellation can produce Châteauneuf-du-Pape of great finesse, combining depth, freshness and harmony. A perfect choice for both immediate pleasure and long-term aging.

Châteauneuf Du Pape Père Pape 2023, made entirely from Grenache grown in sandy soils, is much more fragrant and straightforward. It has aromas of sweet red fruits (strawberry, raspberry), sappy garrigue, spring flowers and a crushed-stone-like minerality. I love its elegance. It's medium-bodied, with a pure, seamless mouthfeel and fine tannins. It will shine for 10 to 12 years. This cuvée comes from the lieux-dits Les Bédines and Bois Dauphin. It was partially de-stemmed and spent 20 months in terracotta jars and larger foudres. Just over 300 cases were produced.
