Why choose this wine:

Domaine du Banneret's Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2023 is the fruit of traditional winemaking methods. Produced from vines over sixty years old, planted on a mosaic of terroirs, this wine is made from a blend of 13 red and white grape varieties, typical of the appellation. After manual harvesting, the grapes are vinified naturally, followed by 24 months' ageing in oak barrels, giving the wine a unique aromatic complexity and remarkable ageing potential. On tasting, it reveals bewitching aromas of wild red fruit, cherry, black pepper, flowers and licorice, with a touch of black tea and a subtle smoky note. The palate is structured, with precise tannins and a persistent finish. This 2023 vintage goes perfectly with meats, mature cheeses or chocolate desserts. To fully appreciate its richness and complexity, we recommend serving it at room temperature, after 2-3 hours' aeration.

The Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2023 performed well, with a beautifully floral nose of red berry, spice and rose petal aromas, and medium richness and depth on the palate. Elegant, fresh and lively, this Burgundian-style 2023 should benefit from a year or three of bottle age and offer a good ten years of optimal drinking. It is in the more average style of the vintage, but shines with complexity, purity and elegance.
