The smaller production 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes is all Grenache from the Charbonnières and Les Esqueirons lieux-dits. It's destemmed, vinified all in concrete tanks, and is still resting in a larger foudre. Its deeper ruby hue is followed by a gorgeous perfume of ripe red and black fruits, sappy garrigue, spring flowers, and ground pepper. With medium to full-bodied richness, it stays nicely focused on the palate and has ripe tannins, a seamless, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish.
