Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Quartz 2016 is a superb cuvée made from 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah, sourced from old vines rooted in sandy soils with rolled pebbles in the “Les Cassanets” vineyard. Deep inky in color with falun-red reflections, it opens with aromas of red berries, cinnamon, sandalwood, and violet. The palate is structured and vibrant, with notes of wild plum, cocoa bean, and delicate spice. A wine of impressive elegance and long aging potential.

Why choose this wine:

Produced by Clos du Caillou, a benchmark estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape known for its biodynamic farming and terroir expression, Les Quartz 2016 is a refined and powerful wine from an exceptional vintage. With its aging ability and aromatic complexity, it pairs beautifully with lamb stew, duck breast with porcini and chestnuts, or dry-aged beef. A must-have for lovers of structured, expressive Rhône reds.

Full-bodied, rich, concentrated and velvety, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Quartz is a complete thoroughbred. A blend of 85% Grenache and 15% Syrah, it offers up stunning aromas of crushed stones, tea roses, black cherries and licorice. A powerhouse, loaded with extract, it finishes long and intense, picking up hints of chocolate and star anise. It appears capable of evolving for a couple of stunning decades.
