Clos Saint Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape Deus Ex Machina red 2021

A distinctly more powerful wine, made from 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvèdre, the 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Deus Ex Machina reminds me slightly of the 2011 vintage with its complex, spicy, and intensely fragrant bouquet of red and black fruits, dried flowers, pepper, and herbes de Provence. As it breathes, wilder notes of game and smoked meat gradually emerge in the glass, further enhancing its aromatic depth. On the palate, it is full-bodied and generous, perfectly balanced, with exceptionally refined tannins that gradually gain intensity without ever becoming harsh. Devoid of any harshness, it offers a harmonious texture and a beautiful finish. This cuvée deserves at least 4 to 5 years of bottle aging and has an aging potential of more than twenty years.
