Domaine Raveneau’s Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre 2022 offers a crystalline, precise expression of this iconic terroir. The nose reveals lemon zest, crushed stone, white blossoms, and a hint of flint. The palate is tense and chalky, with a long, saline-driven finish. This is a wine of purity, finesse, and structure—one of the finest from Chablis.

Why choose this wine:

Because it is a benchmark for lovers of pure, mineral Chardonnay. Raveneau’s Montée de Tonnerre 2022 is all about elegance, balance, and energy. Its aging potential is superb, and it’s a perfect pairing with shellfish, sole, or simply for cellaring a future legend. Rare, sought-after, and unforgettable.

The Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre offers a complex bouquet of white flowers, stone fruit, lemon curd, toasted nuts and a subtle but present flinty minerality. While this beauty starts out tight and ungenerous, it blossoms over time in the glass and displays world-class homogeneity, as well as purity. Medium-bodied, with lively but integrated acidity, it needs decanting if drunk in the next five years, and I think it will be better if kept in bottle for 7-8 years.
