Why choose this wine:

Domaine La Barroche Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Julien Barrot 2023 is an emblematic cuvée that combines depth and finesse. Its expressive nose reveals intense notes of black fruits, sweet spices, and garrigue, with a subtle floral and slightly licorice touch. On the palate, the balance is perfect between power and elegance, supported by silky tannins and a fine tension that extends the finish. Crafted from a precise blend and aged in both barrels and vats, this wine fully expresses the complexity and richness of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir.

The Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Julien Barrot 2023 is also superb. Made from 63% Grenache, 13% Mourvèdre, 11% Syrah, 7% Counoise, 5% Cinsault and the rest partially de-stemmed Clairette Rose, it boasts a deeper ruby/purple color, followed by gorgeous aromas of ripe black cherries, resinous garrigue, licorice and chalky minerality. Although not massive, it offers a lovely sense of concentration and depth on the mid-palate, with ripe, polished tannins and near-perfect balance. A superb 2022, it will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and will develop over the next ten years and beyond.
