La Bastide Saint-Dominique Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2023 is a very fine expression of the appellation’s traditional style, combining the generosity of Grenache with a remarkably supple texture.
This family estate, based in Courthézon for more than forty years, notably works the sandy terroirs of the north-eastern part of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with a constant focus on achieving balance between power, finesse and elegance.
The 2023 vintage is composed of 80% Grenache Noir, 10% Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre and 3% Cinsault. Vinification takes place in stainless-steel tanks, followed by nine months of ageing, mainly in concrete vats. This approach preserves the brightness of the fruit and prevents oak from dominating the expression of the terroir.
The Wine Advocate awarded it 90–91/100, highlighting its supple, fleshy and immediately appealing character.
The 2023 stands out for its generous fruit and particularly harmonious texture. Blackcurrant, dark fruit and floral notes shape an expressive bouquet, while the palate combines ripeness, freshness and soft tannins.
This is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape that can be enjoyed relatively young, while still possessing enough depth to evolve for several years in the cellar. A classic, generous and elegant cuvée offering a very attractive expression of the 2023 vintage.
