The Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Roussanne Vieilles Vignes Blanc 2010 is one of the Rhône Valley’s most iconic white wines. Produced entirely from Roussanne, this exceptional cuvée demonstrates the extraordinary depth and ageing potential this variety can achieve when sourced from old vines and a great terroir. Awarded 97 points by Jeb Dunnuck, the 2010 stood out from the beginning for its purity, freshness and remarkable precision. Fresh peach, apricot, toasted bread, almond paste and pronounced minerality shaped its youthful aromatic profile, while the palate combined impressive richness with superb focus and balance. With more than fifteen years of bottle development, the wine is now at a fascinating stage where mature nuances can complement its original fruit and mineral character. A rare bottle for collectors and lovers of mature great white Rhône wines.

Why choose this wine:
A profound white, the 100% Roussanne 2010 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Cuvée Roussanne Vieilles Vignes is more fresh and focused than the traditional blanc (and that’s saying something) and delivers spectacularly pure, delineated aromas of fresh peach, apricot, toasted bread, almond paste, and serious minerality. This is followed by a medium to full-bodied wine that is perfectly balanced and possesses a brilliant texture, superb focus and clarity, and classic finish. Brilliant now, this should also age beautifully. Given the general aging curve of these wines, I wouldn’t hesitate to drink bottles over the coming 3-4 years, but after that, would hold off until a decade after the vintage. Thrilling stuff and this is a great vintage for Beaucastel.
