The Châteauneuf Du Pape 2014 Cuvée De Mon Aïeul always reminded me of the 2006 domaine, with its beautiful elegance and charm. Made from a blend of three terroirs - Les Grandes Serres (96-year-old vines) to the south, La Crau (78-year-old vines) to the east and La Guigasse (75-year-old vines) located in the center of the appellation - it is 100% Grenache aged mainly in vats, with 10% in demi-muids. Loaded with magnificent notes of kirsch and black cherry, as well as licorice, peppery garrigue, flowers and truffled earth, this wine reveals itself rich and full-bodied on the palate, with a beautiful sensation of fluidity, ripe tannins and an excellent finish. This brilliant, hedonistic, yet finely crafted Grenache really shines at the moment.
