Domaine Pierre Usseglio’s Cuvée de mon Aïeul 2016 is a 100% Grenache Châteauneuf-du-Pape made from old vines planted on the finest terroirs of rolled pebbles, sand and clay. The 2016 vintage is now in a phase of perfect harmony: the nose blends candied black fruits, sweet spices, garrigue and a touch of cocoa. The palate is rich and deep, yet perfectly balanced, with silky tannins and great length.

The 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de Mon Aïeul is a deep, rich and vibrant red that offers a kaleidoscope of kirsch liqueur, garrigue, crushed flowers, Asian spices and charcuterie. It's more opulent and sexier than the 2010, fresher and purer than the 2007, with deep, full-bodied aromas and flavors, and a huge finish. It's a sensational, heavenly Châteauneuf-du-Pape at the top of my scale. This cuvée is composed of 100% unde-stemmed Grenache, aged in 20% demi-muids and the rest in concrete tanks.
