Pierre Usseglio Châteauneuf-du-Pape Première Pierre 2023 Jeroboam is an elegant and well-balanced wine, crafted from a harmonious blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, and Clairette Blanche. Grown on a diversity of sandy, clay, limestone soils and rounded galets, it fully expresses the richness of the appellation. The nose charms with aromas of ripe red fruits, spices, and garrigue, while the palate is generous and velvety, offering fine freshness and silky tannins. Aging in oak barrels, demi-muids, concrete tanks, and barriques refines its balance and complexity.

Why choose this wine:

Pierre Usseglio Première Pierre 2023 is a Châteauneuf-du-Pape that is both approachable and built for aging, ideal for lovers of rich yet refined wines. Its perfect balance between power and finesse makes it an excellent match for grilled meats, dishes in sauce, and aged cheeses. Thanks to careful aging and a subtle blend, it can be enjoyed today with proper aeration or cellared to reveal its full complexity over the years. A true signature wine showcasing the Usseglio family’s craftsmanship.

Checking in as 75% Grenache from La Crau, La Serre, Guigasse, and L'Escaouland with 10% Syrah, 5% Mourvedre, 5% Cinsault, and 5% Clairette, the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Premiere Pierre was destemmed and aged in foudre, barrels, and demi-muids, with the latter being almost all used. It's beautifully polished, balanced, and elegant, with ripe blackberries, cherries, Provençal herbs, and flowers with a hint of licorice. Medium-bodied and pure, it has balanced, ripe tannins and a great finish. Drink bottles over the coming 10-15 years or more.
