The Domaine Saint Préfert Châteauneuf-du-Pape Collection Charles Giraud 2009 is a prestigious cuvée crafted from old vines of Grenache and Mourvèdre, cultivated on the emblematic terroirs of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This vintage is distinguished by its deep hue and captivating aromas of plum, blackberry, and cassis, enriched with notes of applewood, tobacco, and perfumed incense. On the palate, it offers a silky texture, remarkable concentration, and a long, harmonious finish.

Why choose this wine:
the 2009 Collection Charles Giraud hasn’t been made at this point but I was able to taste through multiple samples tagged for the wine. The most dense and powerful of Isabel’s wines, this cuvee is mainly old vine Grenache, with a hefty dose of Mourvèdre, that’s aged in 600 liter demi-muids. It offers amazing aromatics of kirsch and raspberry fruit, thyme, and earth, with the wine already showing awesome complexity and depth to the aromas. Full bodied, dense and ripe on the palate, it shows solid acidity and a tannic, firm finish. Certainly one of the top ‘09s I was able to taste, this should have at least two decades of prime drinking.
