Why choose this wine:

The Domaine Saint Préfert Collection Charles Giraud 2009 embodies the excellence of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, delivering a rich and complex sensory experience. This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as herb-roasted leg of lamb, duck breast with figs, or beef stew with porcini mushrooms. An essential cuvée for Rhône wine enthusiasts, ready to enjoy now or to cellar for years to come.

the 2009 Collection Charles Giraud hasn’t been made at this point but I was able to taste through multiple samples tagged for the wine. The most dense and powerful of Isabel’s wines, this cuvee is mainly old vine Grenache, with a hefty dose of Mourvèdre, that’s aged in 600 liter demi-muids. It offers amazing aromatics of kirsch and raspberry fruit, thyme, and earth, with the wine already showing awesome complexity and depth to the aromas. Full bodied, dense and ripe on the palate, it shows solid acidity and a tannic, firm finish. Certainly one of the top ‘09s I was able to taste, this should have at least two decades of prime drinking.
