The 2013 La Grange des Pères Rouge Magnum is one of the most iconic wines produced in southern France. Created by the legendary Laurent Vaillé, this cult estate transformed the reputation of the Languedoc by producing wines capable of competing with the finest labels in France. Produced in tiny quantities, every vintage has become highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
The 2013 vintage perfectly illustrates the estate’s philosophy, blending Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Counoise into a wine of remarkable balance, freshness and depth. Grown on the limestone hillsides of Aniane and aged for nearly two years in French oak before extended bottle ageing, the Magnum format develops even greater complexity and longevity. It is now entering a magnificent drinking window while promising decades of further evolution.
Wine characteristics :
Why choose this wine:
Deep garnet colour with evolving ruby highlights. The bouquet opens with blackberry, blackcurrant, black cherry, violet, Mediterranean herbs, graphite, fine leather and sweet spices, followed by notes of cocoa, truffle and forest floor. The palate is rich yet beautifully balanced, offering velvety tannins, vibrant freshness and extraordinary length. Layers of dark fruit, liquorice, mineral notes and spice unfold seamlessly towards a long, elegant finish. The Magnum format enhances both finesse and ageing potential, making this an exceptional wine for long-term cellaring.
