The Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 2011 is a superb mature expression from one of the most iconic estates in the Northern Rhône. The Clape family has become a benchmark for traditional Cornas, producing profound, authentic Syrah capable of ageing beautifully for decades. Produced from old Syrah vines planted on the steep granite slopes of Cornas, the wine brings together several historic vineyard parcels to capture the complexity of the appellation. Traditional whole-cluster winemaking and ageing in old large oak foudres preserve the purity of the fruit and the distinctive mineral character of the terroir. More than a decade of bottle ageing has allowed the 2011 vintage to develop beautiful complexity, combining dark fruit with pepper, olive, smoke, leather and mineral nuances. It is now entering a fascinating stage of maturity while retaining the structure and freshness required for further cellaring.
