Domaine du Banneret Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2024 is a beautifully refined expression of traditional Southern Rhône winemaking. Awarded 93 points by Jeb Dunnuck in October 2026, this elegant vintage combines aromatic purity, precision and remarkable balance. Sourced primarily from sandy soils across several lieux-dits within the appellation, the blend comprises 50% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre, complemented by other traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape varieties. The grapes are vinified as whole clusters without destemming, followed by 18 months of ageing in a combination of foudres, older barrels and concrete tanks. The 2024 vintage reveals an expressive bouquet of mulled red berries, peppery Provençal garrigue, smoke and subtle roasted meat nuances. Medium-bodied, the palate is beautifully pure, clean and refined, with an elegant texture and exceptionally fine tannins. The finish is harmonious and persistent, highlighting the wine’s freshness and precision. Jeb Dunnuck praises its classic expression of the vintage and anticipates a decade or more of ageing potential. A distinctive Châteauneuf-du-Pape that favours elegance, authenticity and finesse over excessive power.

Why choose this wine:
A Grenache-dominated blend, the 2024 Châteauneuf Du Pape is 50% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and 10% Mourvèdre, with the balance a mix of the appellation's other varieties grown on mostly sandy soils across multiple lieux-dits. Medium ruby/translucent-hued, it has smoky, meaty aromatics of mulled red berries, peppery garrigue, smoke, and roasted meat-like nuances. Not destemmed and aged 18 months in a mix of foudre, older barrels, and concrete, it's medium-bodied and has a clean, classy, pure mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It's very much in the style of the vintage and should keep for a solid decade or more. Drink 2026-2036.
