Domaine Giraud Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tradition 2023 is a particularly compelling vintage, especially as no Prémices cuvée was produced in 2023. The blend is based on 80% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre, followed by 18 months of ageing in concrete to preserve fruit purity and freshness. Awarded 93 points by Jeb Dunnuck, the wine combines ripe black raspberry and black cherry with white pepper, violets, black olive and subtle mineral nuances. Medium-bodied, fresh and focused, it offers beautifully balanced acidity and outstanding length. Grenache provides generosity and depth, while Syrah and Mourvèdre contribute spice, structure and complexity. Dunnuck particularly highlights the wine’s finesse and elegance without any sacrifice of richness or depth. Already delicious today, the 2023 has the balance and structure to develop beautifully through 2040.

Why choose this wine:

Tradition 2023 combines 80% Grenache, 18 months of concrete ageing and a particularly refined balance between freshness, richness and depth. The absence of the Prémices cuvée also makes 2023 a distinctive vintage at Domaine Giraud. With 93 points from Jeb Dunnuck and a 2025-2040 drinking window, it offers both immediate pleasure and serious ageing potential.

Deep ruby with purple highlights. The bouquet reveals ripe black raspberry and black cherry alongside white pepper, violets and black olive, with subtle mineral notes adding precision. The palate is medium-bodied, fresh and focused, with pure fruit and beautifully balanced acidity. Fine tannins provide structure without heaviness, leading into a long, elegant finish of dark fruit, flowers, pepper and mineral nuances. A refined Châteauneuf-du-Pape built around finesse and balance rather than sheer power.
