The Louis-Benjamin – Didier Dagueneau Sancerre Le Mont Damné 2022 is one of the rarest and most distinctive wines produced by the estate. Unlike Dagueneau’s historic Saint-Andelain cuvées, this wine comes from Chavignol and the celebrated Monts Damnés hillside, one of Sancerre’s most prestigious terroirs. Made entirely from Sauvignon Blanc, it offers a fascinating interpretation of the Dagueneau style through a deeply calcareous terroir. The 2022 vintage combines generous fruit and texture with impressive freshness, while 12 months of barrel ageing followed by 6 months in tank help build complexity and precision. Awarded 94 points by Vinous, it is distinguished by its delicate, fine and chalky texture. Still remarkably youthful, this is a serious cellar wine capable of developing extraordinary complexity over the coming decades.

Why choose this wine:

Le Mont Damné holds a unique position within the Dagueneau range. It combines one of Chavignol's legendary limestone terroirs with the uncompromising precision of Louis-Benjamin Dagueneau. The 2022 vintage offers richness without heaviness, vibrant acidity and remarkable chalky tension. Its rarity, 94-point Vinous rating and considerable ageing potential make it an exceptional bottle for collectors of great Loire whites.

Bright pale yellow with subtle golden highlights. The bouquet gradually reveals ripe citrus, orchard fruit and exotic nuances alongside white flowers, fresh herbs and pronounced chalky minerality. The palate combines a broad, almost caressing texture with vibrant acidity and impressive precision. Citrus and white fruit give way to chalk, saline and oyster-shell nuances before a remarkably long, finely bitter and mineral finish. A powerful yet refined Sancerre whose true complexity should emerge after extended bottle ageing.
