Domaine de Trévallon IGP Alpilles Rouge 2023 is a superb expression of this iconic estate on the northern slopes of the Alpilles. The vintage follows Trévallon’s historic identity with an equal blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Syrah grown on exceptionally stony limestone and clay soils.

Following an extremely dry growing season, harvest began with Syrah on September 4 and finished with Cabernet Sauvignon on September 19. The grapes are hand harvested and fermented as whole clusters without destemming or inoculated yeasts. Ageing lasts more than two years in large foudres, with minimal racking, followed by traditional egg-white fining and bottling without filtration.
The 2023 combines Mediterranean character with remarkable freshness. Syrah contributes flesh, pepper and spice, while Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure, depth and length. Fine tannins and an invigorating saline finish give the wine impressive energy and serious long-term potential.

Why choose this wine:

Trévallon Rouge 2023 stands apart through its distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah blend, limestone terroir, whole-cluster vinification and exceptionally long foudre ageing. Already expressive in its youth, it has the structure and balance required for extended cellaring. The estate itself recommends enjoying the red during its first year after release with decanting, or waiting around a decade for the wine to reveal its full depth and complexity.

Deep ruby with purple highlights. The bouquet combines cassis, wild blackberry and red berries with black olive, pepper, liquorice and Provençal garrigue. The palate is deep and structured yet remarkably fresh, with fine, silky tannins and impressive precision. Dark fruit, Mediterranean herbs and spice lead into a long, energetic and mouthwatering saline finish. A refined and highly distinctive Trévallon, expressive in its youth yet clearly built for long-term ageing.
