Why choose this wine:

The Domaine de Marcoux 2022 is a true benchmark, named the 2nd best wine in the world by Jeb Dunnuck. This wine embodies the quintessence of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, blending aromatic intensity, fine tannins, and exceptional depth. Its captivating bouquet reveals an explosion of red and black fruits, accented by floral and spicy notes. The palate, both full and vibrant, offers a silky texture and a finish of remarkable persistence. Capable of evolving beautifully in the cellar, it captivates today with its precision and balance. A must-have bottle for lovers of great Rhône wines.

The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape is an excellent example of the vintage and presents a lovely, perfumed style, incredibly Provençal in its aromas and flavors of red fruits, savory garrigue, spices and pepper. With medium-bodied richness, a balanced, elegant palate and ripe tannins, it already offers pleasure today, but given its balance and the quality of its tannins, it will shine for 10 to 15 years if kept well. The blend is composed of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 7% Syrah and 3% Cinsault, vinified entirely in concrete and aged almost entirely in concrete vats. There are no Vieilles Vignes in the vintage because of hail and low yields due to drought, so I suspect this cuvée benefited from the inclusion of some really excellent fruit that would normally have been used for Vieilles Vignes. It's one of the best classic cuvées I can remember, and should be on the shopping list without hesitation.
