The Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas 2018 Magnum is an exceptional bottle from one of the most iconic estates in the Northern Rhône. A historic benchmark in Cornas, the Clape family has produced traditional, deeply terroir-driven Syrah for generations. Made exclusively from Syrah grown on the appellation’s steep granite slopes, the wine includes fruit from old vines that contribute remarkable depth and complexity. Traditional whole-cluster vinification and ageing in old large oak foudres preserve the purity of the fruit and the distinctive mineral character of Cornas. The generous 2018 vintage produced a rich, concentrated and powerful wine, beautifully balanced by freshness and energy. Now beginning to reveal greater complexity with bottle age, it still has considerable potential ahead.
