La Bastide Saint-Dominique Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Secrets de Pignan 2023 is a rare single-vineyard cuvée showcasing one of the appellation’s most sought-after terroirs: the Pignan lieu-dit. Located on sandy soils just north of Château Rayas, this sector is particularly renowned for giving Grenache an exceptionally refined and delicate expression.
The 2023 is made exclusively from Grenache. The grapes are fully destemmed, and the wine is then aged for 18 months in stainless-steel tanks, with no oak ageing. This approach preserves the purity of the fruit and allows the Pignan terroir to express itself without interference.
Jeb Dunnuck awarded it an excellent 96/100, highlighting a bouquet of wild strawberry, spring flowers, mint and fresh earth. The palate stands out for its purity, elegance and layered texture, supported by exceptionally fine tannins.
Production is particularly limited, with only around 333 cases made in the 2023 vintage. Already superb today, the wine also has the structure required to evolve through 2040.
A collectible Châteauneuf-du-Pape that demonstrates just how noble Grenache can become when grown on the great sandy terroirs of Pignan.

Why choose this wine:

Les Secrets de Pignan 2023 brings together several characteristics that make it a particularly sought-after bottle: 100% Grenache, a sandy terroir located just north of Rayas, production of only around 333 cases, and a 96/100 score from Jeb Dunnuck.
The absence of oak during ageing preserves an exceptionally pure expression of the grape variety, allowing the usual power of Châteauneuf-du-Pape to give way to greater finesse, perfume and delicacy of texture.
This is a cuvée aimed at lovers of refined, floral and silky Grenache, as well as collectors, thanks to its very limited production and an ageing potential of around fifteen years.

The wine shows a brilliant ruby color, with remarkable depth without being excessively dark. The nose is immediately seductive, revealing a superb expression of wild strawberry, fresh raspberry and red berries, accompanied by spring flowers and delicate hints of mint. With aeration, nuances of fresh earth and aromatic herbs emerge.
The palate is medium to full-bodied, but it is the texture that truly impresses: pure, airy, silky and beautifully defined. The tannins are exceptionally fine, while the fruit unfolds gradually in multiple layers.
The finish is long, fresh and elegant, leaving lingering notes of red berries, flowers and a delicate mineral sensation. A highly distinguished Grenache in which finesse clearly takes precedence over power.
