Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Da Capo 2010 is an extraordinary expression of one of the appellation’s most celebrated traditional estates. The wine is composed of approximately 85% Grenache, with Syrah and other permitted varieties completing the blend, and is aged entirely in foudre. Jeb Dunnuck describes the 2010 as “sheer perfection in a glass,” highlighting the extraordinary contrast between immense concentration and an almost ethereal sense of grace. Blackberry, liquorice, spice, smoked meat and underbrush form an intensely complex bouquet that continues to evolve in the glass. The palate is massive and decadent yet remarkably weightless, with a seamless texture that keeps the extraordinary richness perfectly balanced. With a stated drinking window of 2016-2040, this is a serious collector’s wine with both mature complexity and significant remaining ageing potential.
Wine characteristics :
Why choose this wine:
Deep and concentrated in appearance. The bouquet is remarkably intense, combining blackberry, liquorice and spice with smoked meat and underbrush. It continues to change and develop with air. The palate is massive, rich and decadent yet surprisingly graceful and weightless, with a seamless texture despite its extraordinary concentration. Dark fruit, spice and smoky savoury notes carry through to a profound, persistent finish. A monumental Châteauneuf-du-Pape combining tremendous power with remarkable finesse.
