Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Hommage à Jacques Perrin 2019 is one of the Southern Rhône’s most iconic and collectible wines. Produced in tiny quantities, this legendary Beaucastel cuvée received a perfect 100-point score from Jeb Dunnuck. The traditional blend is dominated by approximately 60% Mourvèdre and 15% Grenache, with Syrah and Cinsault completing the blend, followed by ageing in foudre. Mourvèdre gives Hommage à Jacques Perrin its distinctive depth, structure and extraordinary ability to age. The 2019 combines immense concentration with remarkable purity, revealing blueberry, candied violet, scorched earth and pepper alongside smoky and meaty nuances reminiscent of the Northern Rhône. Full-bodied and profoundly layered, with a stacked mid-palate and ripe, supple tannins, this is a monumental Châteauneuf-du-Pape built to evolve for decades.

Why choose this wine:

Hommage à Jacques Perrin 2019 combines extraordinary rarity, the prestige of one of Beaucastel’s most celebrated cuvées, a distinctive Mourvèdre-dominated blend and a perfect 100-point rating from Jeb Dunnuck. Its combination of power, purity and longevity makes it a compelling cellar wine. Dunnuck expects it to reach its prime after seven to eight years of bottle age and remain in excellent condition around its 30th anniversary.

Dense, deep purple colour. The bouquet is extraordinarily complex, with blueberry and dark fruit alongside candied violet, pepper and scorched earth. With air, smoky, meaty and savoury nuances emerge, bringing an almost Northern Rhône character. The palate is full-bodied, powerful and intensely concentrated yet remarkably pure, with tremendous mid-palate depth and layers of dark fruit, spice and mineral character. Ripe, supple tannins provide structure before an exceptionally long, profound finish. A monumental Châteauneuf-du-Pape with decades of evolution ahead.
