M. Chapoutier Ermitage De L’Orée white 2021

Leading the three single-vineyard Marsanne varieties, Ermitage De L'Orée 2021 comes mainly from the Les Murets lieu-dit and has been aged for 12 months in 80% demi-muids, with only 15% new wine. It has a magnificent nose of white flowers, stone fruit and quince, as well as an obvious chalky minerality. It reminds me slightly of the 2012 (though the vintages are nothing alike) and is medium to full-bodied, with a round, supple texture, good balance and an excellent finish. A brilliant wine.
