Château de La Gardine Châteauneuf du Pape Gaston Philippe 2019

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée des Générations Gaston Philippe 2019 is aged entirely in new barrels. This is another remarkably pure and dynamic 2019 vintage, offering plenty of blackcurrant and blackberry notes as well as an abundance of toasty spice, graphite, ground pepper and a subtle oak background. It's rich, full-bodied and concentrated, with a solid structure and a beautiful freshness. It will need 3 to 5 years in the cellar, but it is impressive. As always, this cuvée is a destemmed blend of 40% Grenache and 30% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, all from the La Gardine vineyard, aged in new barrels... Jeb Dunnuck
